  1. Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.
  2. She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a “What if?” question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin’s first term.
  3. She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.
  4. Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a “courtesty” when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.
  5. Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska’s schools. She has said that students should be allowed to “debate both sides” of the evolution question, but she also said creationism “doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”

hillary clinton

Excerpt from “A Hillary vs. Sarah smackdown? Don’t bet on it” by BRENDAN FARRINGTON:

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) – Anyone wanting a Hillary vs. Sarah smackdown might be in for a letdown. First, Sarah Palin launched her Republican vice presidential campaign with praise for the strides made by Hillary Rodham Clinton in her quest for the Democratic presidential nomination. On Monday, Clinton spoke in kind.

“It is a great accomplishment,” Clinton said of Palin’s selection as the GOP’s first female running mate. Clinton told a rally of 500 that the election will be decided on issues, not the historical significance of the candidates, and Democrat Barack Obama and his running mate Joe Biden bring more to the table than the Republican ticket.

McCain +10%

This just in.

The USAToday/Gallup Poll has just announced that McCain has received a huge bump in the polls, thanks to Sarah Palin’s place on the GOP ticket.

The poll was taken from September 5 through September 7 and reveals that McCain has a popular vote of 54% compared to Obama’s 44%.

I never thought McCain could be so popular. Neither did I believe that Palin would bring so much support.

Your thoughts?

Why the Democrats are fighting a losing fight against Palin

Americans finally have an open window into the minds of the Democratic party and the liberal media.

Sarah Palin has revealed the Left’s deep disgust for motherhood, children, and infants that are typically “unwanted”. They have been bragging for twenty years that their daughters could grow up to do anything that their sons might do – and now they have unwittingly declared themselves as hypocrites.

According to the Left, we rightwingers, evangelicals, conservatives, practicing Catholics, and religious fanatics are the perennial hypocrites. The Left has been throwing stones for so long that they have forgotten that their house is made of glass.

The Left’s glass house has shattered and now they are running around cutting their feet on the broken glass. Meanwhile, McCain is stomping through the mess with his combat boots accompanied by his VP in heels. This is becoming interesting.

McCain pulls ahead of Obama

As of September 6, 2005, Zagby has McCain 4% ahead of Obama. Rassmussen has them tied at 48% and 48%.

Palin’s popularity has proven that faith and family are still important to Americans. I think that Obama’s “pro-choice” commercials are hurting him and he doesn’t even know it.

Are Evangelicals really sold on Palin?

From Time:

Sure, John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin to be his running mate fully consumed a GOP convention that was supposed to be focused on thumping Barack Obama over the head. And it may have raised questions about McCain’s own judgment and seriousness. But, as we have been told ad nauseam since the surprise choice was announced last Friday, Palin has already provided one unquestionable, invaluable assist to the Republican campaign: with one sweep of her perfectly manicured hand, she has supposedly erased McCain’s Evangelical problem and united the base that proved so key to George W. Bush’s victory in 2004. (See photos of Sarah Palin here.)

Sarah Palin was Catholic before she was Pentecostal

How about that speech last night? Wow. It was awesome. I would actually like her to be President. Powerful

Not to judge, but I just read this over at Fox News:

Palin was baptized Roman Catholic as a newborn. She was then baptized in a Pentecostal Assemblies of God church as a teen and attended that church until six years ago, when she and her family adopted a different home church, an independent evangelical church.

Interesting…

For the Catholic readers – Does this matter to you?

It doesn’t matter to me, at all. In fact, it makes me hopeful that she’ll return to her roots.
