McCain is falling behind in the electoral college. Before the dip on Monday’s market, McCain maintained a secure edge in five key swing states: Florida, Ohio, Nevada, North Carolina, and Virginia.
He is no losing all five of those states to Obama by almost a five point margin. This does not look good for the McCain ticket.
I suspect that the Democrats will keep yanking the public’s chain with respect to the “bailout” bill since this seems to be working to Obama’s advantage.

As of September 19, 2008, Barack Obama has secured 183 electoral votes. McCain has secured 163 electoral votes.
This election is coming down to eight swing states (CO, MI, NH, NV, OH, PA, VA, & WI) which together have a combined total of 99 electoral votes.
The way I see it, it’s going to come down to five of those eight: CO, NH, NV, MI, & OH (I think McCain will secure Virginia and maybe Pennsylvania).
Any predictions?
Why does Obama attract young people?

Peter Dreier over at The Nation has published an interesting article entitled “Obama’s Youth Movement“.
Obama has become quite popular with “Millenials” (18-29 years old) and is especially popular with voters aged 18-22 years old.
Why does Obama attract young people?
One obvious reason is that Obama is younger and McCain is older.
But I think there is a more subtle reason. Ask yourself: “How old were 18-22 year-olds on September 11, 2001?”
Answer: 11-15 years old!!!
The trauma of terror and the memory of the worst attack on American soil is not something seared into the memories of these college-aged voters. I’m sure they remember it, but they don’t have an adult memory of the event. Their adult conscious awareness of America is simply “For as long as I can remember, we’ve been in a long and tedious war.” They cannot recall why we are in this debacle, because they cannot recall the terrors of September 11th.
I’m not convinced that McCain can do anything to gain support among college aged voters, but I would suggest that his campaign bring more attention to the reality of September 11th in our nation’s recent history and how that tragic even has made a gigantic impact on our economy and foreign policy. We didn’t wind up in this mess because Republicans cursed the nation. We are in trouble because terrorists pushed us down to our knees and we’re still trying to get back on our feet.

New Obama ad: McCain can’t send an email. You know Barack has nothing when goes after this sort of nonsense…

Catholics for McCain/Palin

“Students at my conservative, Catholic college were psyched about Palin. On Friday when she was announced, the buzz around campus was about Palin and it was all positive. My college draws conservative students from across America, so I think it provided a real snapshot of how young conservatives now feel about the ticket. I emphasize now, because there was a big chunk of students I know who were not enthused at all about McCain… Most could stomach voting for him, but ask them to knock on doors, make phone calls? Not a chance. Another portion of those students were going to write in Ron Paul or not vote at all. That all changed with the Palin pick. Students are asking how to get involved, and those that weren’t going to pull the lever for McCain are now.”

This just in.
The USAToday/Gallup Poll has just announced that McCain has received a huge bump in the polls, thanks to Sarah Palin’s place on the GOP ticket.
The poll was taken from September 5 through September 7 and reveals that McCain has a popular vote of 54% compared to Obama’s 44%.
I never thought McCain could be so popular. Neither did I believe that Palin would bring so much support.
Your thoughts?

As of September 6, 2005, Zagby has McCain 4% ahead of Obama. Rassmussen has them tied at 48% and 48%.
Palin’s popularity has proven that faith and family are still important to Americans. I think that Obama’s “pro-choice” commercials are hurting him and he doesn’t even know it.
