I've been praying a rosary a day for Barack Obama ever since he spoke at the Democratic Convention 4 years ago. Everything I have asked the Blessed Mother and her Son to do for Obama has been answered. I had the opportunity to arrange for Sen. Obama to worship at the protestant church where I work in PA, 2 days before the PA Primary. I spoke to him at length about how I have been praying rosaries for him and how God was answering my prayers. I gave him a rosary to carry with him for the rest of the campaign and explained that the prayers that go with it are very powerful.

I told him that I didn't expect him to believe because he was not a Catholic, but he was to believe that I believe.

I even had a friend make me a special rosary that I use only for the purpose of praying for our new president-elect.

The Rosary is a series of prayers prayed typically on beads. Each "decade" or set of ten prayers is prayed while meditating on a series of mysteries from the life of Christ.

Today is Thursday so we pray the "Luminous Mysteries":

1. Baptism of Christ in the Jordan River (ten beads)
2. The miracle at the Wedding in Cana (ten beads)
3. Christ's preaching of the Kingdom of God (ten beads)
4. Christ's Transfiguration with Moses and Elijah (ten beads)
5. Christ's institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper (ten beads)

We meditate on these as they related to our prayers and requests. For example, as I pray through the mystery of the wedding at Cana, I might ask that marriage might receive the dignity that Christ gave it with His first miracle.

I hope that helps. There are more detailed instruction over at the FAQ:
