Great news folks. North Dakota’s House of Representatives passed a bill 51 to 41 declaring that an embryo possesses human rights from the moment of conception. This is an important development because it challenges the legal assumption of when life begins. Where will this go? Stay tuned for more information.

Brilliant! It’s like the duel between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton all over again. I fear a new nationalist federalism is arising. The States can certainly fight back, though.

Great news. For whom? The women that will be forced into unsafe abortions? The American public that are having a faux morality forced upon them from the conservative North Dakotan government? Certainly not. Great news for the picture of a cluster of cells? Well, perhaps, but why are giving more rights and privileges to some cells rather than a thinking, breathing, full grown woman?
