How Support for Abortion Became Kennedy Dogma

For faithful Roman Catholics, the thought of yet another pro-choice Kennedy positioned to campaign for the unlimited right to abortion is discouraging. Yet if Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of Catholics John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, is appointed to fill the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Clinton, abortion-rights advocates will have just such a champion.

Ms. Kennedy was so concerned to assure pro-abortion leaders in New York, Britain’s Guardian newspaper reported on Dec. 18, that on the same day Ms. Kennedy telephoned New York Gov. David Patterson to declare interest in the Senate seat, “one of her first calls was to an abortion rights group, indicating she will be strongly pro-choice.”

Why Sotomayor is key to Obama’s abortion agenda

Why is Sotomayer important to President Obama? She is Catholic. Of the nine Supreme Court Justices, currently five are Catholic. These five tip the court toward a pro-life consensus (the Catholic exception might be Anthony Kennedy).

By choosing Sotomayer, Obama accomplishes two things. First, he secures another pro-choice advocate in the Supreme Court. Second, he makes it impossible for another Catholic to be appointed to the Supreme Court in the future since this appointment would yield six Catholics among the nine Justices.

A future conservative president would be fried if he attempted to appoint an eighth Catholic (pro-life) justice.

Barack Obama successfully courted young people through the internet – blogs, twitter, timed texts, and Facebook. Now the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church and Vicar of Christ on earth, Pope Benedict XVI, will follow suit by joining up on Facebook with his application ‘Pope2You’. The app will link followers to his YouTube channel (launched last year). There is also a related app for the iPhone.

Archbishop of New York City reaches out to Hispanic population

The new Catholic archbishop of New York City Timothy Dolan has recently noted that New York is increasingly Spanish speaking. He has committed himself to shepherding and evanglizing the Hispanic/Latino population that has tended to gravitate toward Pentecostal and Evangelical expressions of Christianity.

Only 46% of American Christians belive that Jesus didn’t sin

A new Barna study reveals that most American Christians don’t hold to some of the basic tenets of historic Christianity.

Only 35% believed that Satan is a living being rather than a mere symbol of evil. 8% were unsure.

Fifty-eight percent agreed with the statement that the Holy Spirit is “a symbol of God’s power or presence but is not a living entity.”

This question is not a good one because traditional orthodox speaks of the Holy Spirit as a “Person” and not as an “entity”. I imagine that many were confused.

The real zinger is that 22% believed that Christ sinned while one earth! 17% agreed somewhat. This demonstrates a true failure in American congregations to communicate the biblical faith.

Iowa Supreme Court rules in favor of homosexual marriage

The Iowa Supreme Court ruled last Friday that gay marriage was a constitutional right.

Earlier this week, Vermont legislators overturned a veto of a gay marriage bill.

So comes the revolution. Sigh.

Has Pastor Rick Warren caved to liberals?

There’s a new article from Life Site News suggesting that Pastor Rick Warren has caved to liberals on the issue of same-sex unions. I’m not fully convinced that this is the case, but he does seem to be growing soft with respect to key issues facing Christians in America.

Denzel Washington’s charity and patriotism

Don’t know whether you heard about this
but Denzel Washington and his family visited
the troops at Brook Army Medical Center , in
San Antonio, Texas (BAMC) the other day. This
is where soldiers who have been evacuated from
Germany come to be hospitalized in the United
States, especially burn victims There are some
buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher
House is a Hotel where soldiers’ families can stay,
for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying
on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled
most of the time.

While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave
him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to build.
He took his cheque book out and wrote a cheque for the full amount right there
on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear
this story and want to get the word out to the American
public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it

and other Hollywood fluff make front page news with their ridiculous
antics and Denzel Washington’s charity
doesn’t even make page 3 in the Metro section of
any newspaper except the local newspaper in San
Antonio.

An economic analogy from Texas Tech

This is an interesting analogy. It says a lot about our country’s future if we stay on this same path……

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. The class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism.”

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else. All failed to their great surprise and the professor told them that socialism would ultimately fail because trying harder to succeed for the greater the reward works, but when a government takes all the reward away, no one will try or succeed, and everyone fails.

(I wonder if academia would today allow experimentation like this and award the class average.)
