it's definitely a parable, and while probably a story that started being passed around starting with "at a university", a Texas Tech student or graduate changed it to Tech for school recognition. the same as how a lot of these things start off and people from states with pride claim them and say a man from Georgia rather than just a man.

Patty, I think you may be right about the factual base of the story. Once again you show how emotion and ignorance are a driving force of liberal thought patterns & agendas. There is nothing mentioned about Bush or Obama. It’s a sociological conclusion based on the experience of human nature. I’m a republican, who voted for Obama, sitting here smiling at how you can’t see the principle of the rewarding effort instead of lowering the standard to the lowest common denominator. Let go of the anger and try to hold on to your rational.

I've researched it, and haven't been able to prove, nor disprove the story. I agree with Matthew, the story is most probably a parable, but why does it specifically refer to Texas Tech instead of saying, "A professor at a university..."?

Actually the story is a parable. Educated children learn about them from Sunday school class. Only uneducated sheep bleat on and on complaining because they want to create a herd-mentality climate and suppress independent, rational thought. Eighth graders who memorize their economics understand the principles of the Tragedy of Commons.

This story is made up, bogus, not true. It is pathetic that right wingers are resorting to fabricated stories in order to support their agenda. They are trying to create an atmosphere of fear and panic regarding Pres. Obama's economic policies and ignore the fact that Bush and his republican controlled congress ran spent our country into the ground from 2001 to 2007. Intelligent Americans are not buying this fear mongering. Only uneducated sheep are.
